Breath@Work
The start of a new venture
Finally, my business partner Celine and I launched our new venture this week: Breath@Work. We both trained with the amazing Dr Ela Manga. As we learnt and experienced the transformative power of Breathwork, memories of the corporate world also came up. Tight deadlines, micromanaging leaders, lack of motivation, remote working leading to feeling isolated, burnout… Slowly, the question arose: what if we could bring Breathwork into the corporate world? What if we could share with employees and leaders the wonderful benefits of connecting with and regulating one’s breath?
Evidence-based approach
Reports about the state of the corporate depict a very grim landscape. According to the State of the Global Workplace 2023, workplace burnout around the world reached a record high in 2020 amid the coronavirus outbreak. 43% of people from over 100 countries claimed to have experienced workplace burnout, rising from 39% in 2019. Another report by Thrive my way highlights that 36% of workers believe their organisations have nothing in place to help stave off employee burnout. Loads of similar reports were published in the last couple of years.
On the other hand, research also increasingly show the benefits of conscious breathing. It is clear that Breathwork:
enhances mental clarity
improves resilience
fosters emotional intelligence
increases energy and vitality.
Beyond relaxation
Our key principle at Breath@Work is that Breathwork is not just about relaxing. It goes far beyond. You can use conscious breathing to become more efficient, make better decision, become a better listener… All the skills you need in the workplace can be further developed with Breathwork.
In fact, some breathing techniques are used daily by highly trained military individuals, professional athletes, police officers and nurses for instance to steel their nerves and focus before entering high-pressure situations. We believe that whatever your job situation, conscious breathing can help you feel and work better.
